Abstract

Proteini sudjeluju u važnim biološkim interakcijama. Poremećaji u njihovoj aktivnosti uzrokuju kronična ili infektivna oboljenja. S obzirom da je uporaba peptida kao terapeutika dosta ograničena, peptidomimetici se nameću kao obećavajući funkcionalni analozi prirodnih peptida. Peptidomimetici oponašaju strukturne elemente i/ili biološki učinak peptida neovisno o svojoj kemijskoj strukturi. U sklopu ovog rada, pripremljen je ferocenski peptidomimetik u kojem je peptidna veza modificirana oksalamidnom podjedinicom. Oksalamidna skupina umetnuta u male peptide potiče njihovo samozdruživanje u visokoorganizirane strukture – gelove koje se uspješno koriste u tehnologiji bio- i nanomaterijala.

Abstract (english)

Proteins are known to be involved in diverse biological interactions. Any disorder of their function causes chronic or infectious disease. Since the application of peptides as therapeutics is limited, peptidomimetics arise as a new promising peptide analogues. Peptidomimetics mimic the structural elements and/or biological effects of peptides, regardless of their structure. Within this work, a new ferrocene peptidomimetic was prepared by modification of peptide bond with oxalamide unit. Oxalamide group, upon insertion in small peptides, induces their self-assembling into highly organized supramolecular structures – gels, with potential use as novel bio- or nanomaterials.
