Abstract

Opisana je uporaba biofilm reaktora za aerobno pročišćavanje otpadnih voda. Formiranje biofilma je prirodni proces u kojem se mikrobne stanice pričvršćuju za nosač i formiraju debele slojeve stanica poznate kao "biofilm". Biofilmovi načinjeni od više mikrobnih vrsta se koriste u obradi otpadnih voda za uklanjanje organskih tvari. Prisutnost više mikrobnih vrsta u biofilmu omogućuje obradu otpadnih voda koje su raznolike po sastavu i variraju u koncentraciji sastojaka. Biofilm procesi pročišćavanja otpadnih voda mogu se podijeliti u dvije skupine: (1) biofilm sustavi sa stacionarnim nosačima kod kojih se biološka reakcija zbiva u biofilmu razvijenom na stacionarnim (fiksnim) nosačima. (2) biofilm sustavi s pokretnim nosačima u kojima se nosači neprekidno kreću usljed mehaničkog ili hidrauličkog djelovanja ili usljed prozračivanja. Detaljno su opisani rotirajući biodisk i biološki prokapnik.

Abstract (english)

The use of biofilm reactors for the aerobic wastewater treatment was described. Biofilm formation is a natural process where microbial cells attach to the support media and form thick layers of cells known as "biofilms." Multi-species biofilms are used to achieve the treatment of wastewater for removal of organic compounds. The presence of multiple species allows the treatment of waste streams that are diverse in composition and that fluctuate in component concentration. Biofilm processes in wastewater treatment can be divided into two categories: (1) the fixed-medium systems where the biofilm media are static in the reactors and the biological reactions take place in the biofilm developed on the static media, and (2) the moving-medium systems where the biofilm media are kept continually moving by means of mechanical, hydraulic, or air forces. The rotating biological contactor and trickling filter are described in detail.
