Abstract

Brokula, kao i ostalo povrće roda Brassica bogat je izvor biološki aktivnih tvari koje imaju posebnu ulogu u zaštiti organizma od tumorskih i kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Ekstrakti tog povrća uglavnom pokazuju inhibitorno djelovanje prema tumorskim stanicama. U prethodnim istraživanjima ustanovljeno je da različito pripremljeni ekstrakti brokule pri koncentraciji od 5 mg/mL djeluju stimulacijski na proliferaciju tumorskih stanica. Stoga je u ovom radu ispitan učinak 5 mg/mL ekstrakata brokule na proliferaciju tumorske stanične linije MCF-7, kao i na stanice u kojima je prethodno induciran stres doksorubicinom ili vodikovim peroksidom. Na temelju dobivenih rezultata može se zaključiti da ispitani ekstrakti brokule uglavnom pokazuju protektivan učinak na MCF-7 stanice u kojima je induciran stres.

Abstract (english)

Broccoli, among other vegetables of the Brassica family is a rich source of biologically active compounds which have a special role in protection against tumour and cardiovascular diseases. These vegetables extracts mostly show inhibitory activity towards tumour cells. Nevertheless, in previous work it has been established that differently prepared broccoli extracts in concentration of 5 mg/ml show stimulatory effect on proliferation of tumour cells. Therefore, in this work the effect of broccoli extracts was tested on MCF-7 tumour cells alone, as well as on cells in which the stress has been induced by doxorubicin or hydrogen peroxide. Based on the obtained results it can be concluded that broccoli extracts mostly show protective effect on stressed cells.
