Abstract

Folna kiselina, prije začeća i za vrijeme trudnoće ima veliku ulogu u prevenciji defekata neuralne cijevi stoga je veoma bitna informiranost svih žena reproduktivne dobi u cilju smanjenja broja novorođenčadi s ovim porođajnim malformacijama. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je odrediti trenutno znanje i stavove mladih žena reproduktivne dobi različitog obrazovanja, o važnosti folata odnosno folne kiseline tijekom i prije trudnoće. U istraživanju je sudjelovala 61 studentica, od toga 34 s Prehrambeno-biotehnološkog fakulteta (PBF), a 27 s ostalih fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Rezultati su pokazali da je 97,1 % studentica PBF-a i svega 25,9 % studentica ostalih fakulteta upoznato s važnosti folne kiseline u trudnoći. Izvor informacija bili su uglavnom znanje stečeno tijekom studija (79,4 %), mediji (11,8 %) i prijatelji (14,8 %).

Abstract (english)

Folic acid intake before conception and during pregnancy has a major role in the prevention of neural tube defects, therefore, nutrition knowledge of women of reproductive age is very important in order to reduce the number of newborns with these congenital malformations. The aim of this study was to assess current knowledge and attitudes of young women of reproductive age with different education, the importance of folate or folic acid before and during pregnancy. The study included 61 students, 34 from the Food Technology and Biotechnology (FTB), and 27 from other faculties of the University of Zagreb. Results showed that 97.1% of FTB students and 25.9% of students from other faculties are familiar with the importance of folic acid in pregnancy. Sources of information were the knowledge acquired at the faculty (79.4%), media (11,8%) and friends (14,8%).
