Abstract

Pesticidi su većinom sintetske, selektivne tvari namijenjene djelomičnom ili potpunom uništavanju štetnih biljnih i životinjskih organizama. Iako je suvremena poljoprivredna proizvodnja nezamisliva bez njihove upotrebe, njihovi ostaci predstavljaju veliku opasnost za zdravlje ljudi i okoliš. Organoklorirani insekticidi su visokoperzistentni pesticidi, derivati alifatskih ili aromatskih ugljikovodika, otporni na biorazgradnju. Fizikalnokemijska svojstva kao liposolubilnost i kemijska stabilnost doprinose njihovoj progresivnoj akumulaciji posebno u masnim tkivima pojedinih životinja ili biljaka u hranidbenoj piramidi, te time predstavljaju veliku opasnost za čovjeka. Upotreba mnogih predstavnika te skupine je zabranjena zbog dokazane neurotoksičnosti, imunotoksičnosti, ometanja endokrine homeostaze, toksičnosti na reprodukcijski sustav te karcinogeni potencijal. U ovome radu opisani su najpoznatiji predstavnici organokloriranih insekticida, njihova apsorbcija, metabolizam, distribucija i mogući toksični učinci na žive organizme.

Abstract (english)

Pesticides are mostly synthetic, selective substances intended for partial or complete destruction of harmful plant and animal organisms. Although modern agricultural production is impossible without the use of pesticides, their residues are dangerous to human health and the environment. Organochlorine insecticides are highly persistent pesticides, derivatives of aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons, resistant to biodegradation. Physical and chemical properties such as liposolubility and chemical stability, contribute to their progressive accumulation especially in the fatty tissues of animals or plants in the food pyramid, and thus constitute a major threat to humans. The use of many representatives of this group was banned due to proven neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, endocrine disruption of homeostasis, reproductive system toxicity and carcinogenic potential. This paper describes the most renowned representatives of organochlorine insecticides, their absorption, metabolism, distribution and possible toxic effects on living organisms.
