Abstract

Tijekom samo poslijednjeg desetljeća čovjek je proizveo i u okoliš su otpuštene tone kemikalija. Mnoge od njih imaju sposobnost moduliranja aktivnosti hormona te se takve kemikalije nazivaju endokrini disruptori. Za stanične receptore, koji su tisućama godina uspjevali ostati “očuvani” u svojim temeljnim funkcijama (usprkos industrijalizaciji), danas se zna da su čimbenici putem kojih egzogene kemikalije djeluju u organizmu. Homeostaza endokrinog sustava je vrlo bitna ljudskom organizmu, a posebice za reprodukciju u žena zbog izrazite osjetljivosti ovarijskog ciklusa i plodnosti na hormonsku neuravnoteženost. Ovaj rad prikazuje što su endokrini disruptori i načine na koje oni mogu utjecati na ženski reprodukcijski sustav interferirajući s metabolizmom hormona, te ekspresijom estrogenih i androgenih receptora što posljedično dovodi do promjena i disfunkcije u reprodukcijskom traktu, razvoja karcinoma i sl.

Abstract (english)

During last decade there were produced and released in environment tones of man made chemicals. Many of them have ability to modulate endogenous hormon activities and therefore they are called endocrine disrupters. Cellular receptors, which succeeded to stay maintained for thousand of years (in spite of industrialization), today are known as factors over wich endocrine disrupters operate in the organism. Homeostasis of endocrine system is crucial for human organism, and especially for female reproduction due to sensitivity of ovarian cycle and fertility to hormonal disbalance. This paper presents what endocrine disrupters are and how can they affect the female reproductive system through interference with hormone metabolism and expression of estrogen and androgen receptors, what conseqeuntly leads to changes in, and disfunction of reproductive tract, cancer development etc.
