Abstract

Fitoremedijacija se smatra obećavajućom, jeftinom te estetski prihvatljivom, in situ tehnologijom za remedijaciju teških metala iz onečišćenih tala. Potencijal upotrebe drveća u fitoremedijaciji tla prepoznat je zadnjih desteljeća. U ovom radu ispitan je fitoekstrakcijski potencijal jablana (Populus nigra var. Italica), uloga antioksidativnih enzima superoksid dismutaze (SOD) i peroksidaze (POD) te potencijalna uloga polifenolnih spojeva i enzima fenilalanin-amonijeve lijaze (PAL) u odgovoru biljke na stres uzrokovan akumulacijom različitih količina kadmija. Dobiveni rezultati skupno ukazuju da ispitivani jablan (Populus nigra var. Italica) može biti razmatran kao vrsta s potencijalom za fitoekstrakciju tala onečišćenih kadmijem kao i važna uloga antioksidativnih enzima i polifenolnih spojeva u obrani od oksidativnog stresa uzrokovanog izloženosti kadmiju.

Abstract (english)

Phytoremediation is considered a promising, inexpensive and aesthetically acceptable, in situ technology to remediate heavy metals from contaminated soils. The potential use of trees in the phytoremediation of soil has been recognized in the past decades. In this study the potential of poplar (Populus nigra var. Italica) in fitoextraction, the role of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) as well as the potential role of polyphenolic compounds and the enzyme phenylalanine-ammonium liase (PAL) in response to plant stress caused by the accumulation different amounts of cadmium was explored. Results indicate that the tested poplar (Populus nigra var. Italica) can be considered as a species with potential for fitoextraction of cadmium from the soils polluted by cadmium as well as the important role of antioxidant enzymes and polyphenolic compounds in the defense from oxidative stress caused by exposure to cadmium.
