Abstract

Adekvatan unos kalcija i folne kiseline tijekom rane odrasle dobi smanjuje rizik od pojave kroničnih bolesti u kasnijoj životnoj dobi. Cilj rada je bio ispitati valjanost i ponovljivost upitnika o učestalosti konzumiranja hrane i piča (FFQ) za procjenu unosa kalcija i folata u studentskoj populaciji u cdilju njegove daljne primjene, te procjena prehrambenog statusa i kaqkvoće prehrane. Istraživanje je provedeno na studentima iz kontinentalne i primorske regije. FFQ za procjenu unosa kalcija, za razliku od FFQ za folat, nije pokazao valjanost obzirom na korelacijske koeficijente, ali su oba FFQ pokazala jako dobru ponovljivost. Primjenom Bland-Altmanova metode može se zaključiti da se oba FFQ mogu primjeniti za procjenu unosa ciljanih mikronutrijenata studentske populacije. U prosjeku studenti iz obje regije su adekvatno uhranjeni, imaju odgovarajući udjel i raspodjelu maqsnog tkiva i statistički se ne razlikuju s obzirom na regiju. Prehrana studenata u prosjeku je bila adekvatna obzirom na udio makronutrijenata, a deficitarna nekim mikronutrijentima (kalij, vitamin A, cink, željezo i magnezij).

Abstract (english)

Adequate intake of calcium and folic acid during early adulthood reduces the risk of the development of chronic diseases in later life. The aim of this study was to examine the validity and reproducibility of two food frequency questionnaires to assess the intake of calcium and folate in the student population for their further implementation as well as the evaluation of the nutritional status and food quality of the student population. The study was conducted on students from mainland and coastal region. The FFQ to estimate the intake of calcium, unlike the FFQ to assess folate intake, showed no validity according to the correlation coefficients, but both FFQs showed very good repeatability. By applying the Bland-Altman method, it be concluded that both FFQs may be used to estimate the intake of micronutrients in the targeted population. On average, the students from both regions are adequately nourished, have an appropriate share of the distribution of adipose tissue and statistically do not differ by region. On average, the meals consumated by the student population were adequate given the proportion of macronutrients, but it was deficient in some micronutrients (potassium, vitamin A, zinc, iron and magnesium).
