Abstract | U okviru praćenja postotka bakterije meticilin rezistentni Staphylococcus aureus u institucionaliziranih starijih korisnika jednog Zagrebačkog doma umirovljenika provedeno je ispitivanje antimikrobne osjetljivosti sojeva Staphylococcus aureus i određivanje prisutnosti mecA gena PCR metodom. |

Parallel abstract (English) | The samples of MRSA from an elderly home in Zagreb were taken to investigate the sensitvity of these bacteria to antibiotics and to see if the bacteria contains the gene mecA using the PCR method. The aim of this experiment is, based on the results of survey, to identify the right antibiotics which will decolonise the bacteria and prevent further spreading of it to the healthy elders in the home. 26 samples were collected and tested for 12 different antiobiotics. The existance of the gene mecA on the bacteria's chromosome indicates a resistance to meticilin. The conclusion of this experiment is that 9,52% of the population of the elderly home have MRSA and the PCR method has shown that every sample of MRSA bacteria contains the macA gene. |
