Abstract

Šećerna bolest ili dijabetes je poremećaj povišene razine glukoze u krvi koji nastaje zbog poremećaja u radu beta stanica gušteraĉe koje nemogu proizvesti dovoljno inzulina ili zbog neosjetljivosti tjelesnih stanica na inzulin. U lijeĉenju dijabetesa poĉela se sve više razmatrati uporaba i konzumacija meda. Med izaziva niţi porast glukoze u krvi, ima protuupalna, antiproliferacijska i protubakterijska svojstva. Med proizvode medonosne pĉele koje ovisno o sakupljenom cvjetnom nektaru proizvode razliĉite vrste meda. Med utjeĉe na smanjenje triglicerida i lipoproteina niske gustoće-LDL. TakoĊer istiĉe se njegova antioksidativna uloga u sprjeĉavanju oksidacije lipida i sprjeĉavanju štetnog djelovanja slobodnih radikala. Budući da su u medu prisutne razliĉite tvari poput ugljikohidrata, organskih kiselina, flavonoida, vitamina i mineralnih tvari istiĉe se njegova ljekovitost i povoljan uĉinak na zdravlje. U ovom radu opisani su najvaţniji uĉinci meda na zdravlje i dijabetesa, te kako se med moţe primjeniti u suzbijanju nekih od dijabetiĉkih komplikacija.

Abstract (english)

Diabetes mellitus, or diabetes, is a disorder of elevated glucose levels in blood that occurs because of a disturbance in the beta cells of the pancreas, which can not produce enough insulin, or the insensitivity of cells to insulin. In the treatment of diabeteshas began to consider the increased usage and the consumption of honey. The honey is causing lower blood sugar, and it has anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative and anti-bacterial properties. The honeybees are producing honey that can be different type, which depends on the collected floral nectar. Honey tends to decrease triglyceride and low density lipoprotein-LDL. Also notable is its antioxidant role in preventing lipid oxidation and prevention the harmful effects of free radicals. Because the presence of different substances, such as carbohydrates, organic acids, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals, honey is distinguished by its healing and beneficial effect on health. In this paper are describedthe most important effects of honey on health and diabetes, and how to be applied during the suppression of some of the complications of diabetes.
