Abstract

Današnje doba je doba epidemije dijabetesa. Diabetes mellitus i komplikacije do kojih dovodi jedan su od vodećih uzroka smrti u svijetu. Kronične komplikacije dijabetesa moguće je značajno odgoditi pravilnom prehranom, redovitom tjelesnom aktivnošću i izbjegavanjem akutnih komplikacija poput hipoglikemija i hiperglikemija. Analizom podataka dobivenih internetskom anketom provedenom na osobama oboljelima od dijabetesa tipa 1 u dobi od 18 do 31 godina (n=29), dovedeni su u korelaciju utjecaj prehrambenog obrasca i tjelesne aktivnosti sa rizikom za razvoj kroničnih komplikacija (pregledom biokemijskog parametra HbA1c). Edukacijom o pravilnoj prehrani i sadržaju ugljikohidrata u pojedinim namirnicama postiže se bolja kontrola nad bolesti, a uključivanjem nutricionista u klinički tim edukacije oboljelih bile bi olakšane.

Abstract (english)

In today's time we are encountering an epidemic of diabetes. Diabetes mellitus and its complications are one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Chronic complications of diabetes can be significantly postponed by eating properly, regularly exercising and avoiding acute complications such as hypoglicemias and hyperglicemias. Correlation between the influence of eating pattern and activity level with the risk of developing chronic complications of diabetes type 1 (throughout reviewing HbA1c) was established by analysing the data collected through an Internet questionnaire which included diabetics between ages 18 and 31 (n=29). Including nutritionists into clinical teams would accomplish better reguation of the disease by educating patients about proper nutrition and carbohydrate content of certain foods.
