Abstract

Izraz disfagija uključuje poteškoće gutanja koje potječu od različitih bolesti i javljaju se uslijed različitih mehanizama. Cilj ovoga rada bio je procijeniti učestalost disfagije i povezanost s nutritivnim statusom osoba starije životne dobi koji žive u domovima za starije osobe. Alati koji su korišteni za procjenu nutritivnog statusa i disfagije su: MNA-SF i MNA-FF, EAT-10 i MSA. Istraživanjem je obuhvaćeno 48 osoba starije životne dobi koji žive u domovima za starije osobe na području grada Zagreba. Procjenom nutritivnog statusa pomoću alata MNA-FF u 54% ispitanika utvrđen je rizik od neadekvatnoga nutritivnog statusa. Rezultati utvrđeni procjenom pomoću alata EAT-10 su pokazali da 33% ispitanika ima poremećaj gutanja, dok je kod 43,75% ispitanika utvrđen poremećaj gutanja pomoću alata MSA. Rezultati ovog istraživanja ukazuju kako je problem malnutricije i disfagije uistinu prisutan među osobama starije životne dobi koji žive u domovima za starije osobe.

Abstract (english)

The term dysphagia includes difficulty swallowing arising from various diseases and occurs due to various mechanisms. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of dysphagia in the elderly residents in nursing homes and associated with nutritional status. Questionnaire that has been used: MNA-SF and MNA-FF, EAT-10 and MSA. The study included 48 elderly people from nursing homes in Zagreb. After assessment of nutritional status using MNA it was established that 54% of persons are at nutritional risk. Results of a EAT-10 showed that 33% people have difficulty swallowing and 43,75% people have difficulty swallowing assessed with questionnaire MSA. Number of participants in this study was small, so further and more extensive research is necessary. However, even these results already indicate that problem of malnutrition and dysphagia truly exists among elderly residents in nursing homes.
