Abstract

Starenje stanovništva je globalni demografski trend u stalnom porastu, a time je u porastu i malnutricija karakteristična za osobe starije životne dobi. Cilj ovog rada bio je procijeniti nutritivni status osoba starije životne dobi na kućnoj njezi te utvrditi čimbenike koji utječu na nutritivni status. Korišten je upitnik sastavljen na temelju raznih validiranih alata (NRS - 2002, „DETERMINE checklist“) i osnovnih anamnestičkih podataka. Istraživanjem je obuhvaćeno 76 osoba starije životne dobi na području grada Zagreba. Procjenom nutritivnog statusa pomoću alata NRS - 2002 u 57,6% ispitanika utvrđen je rizik od neadekvatnog nutritivnog statusa. Rezultati utvrđeni procjenom pomoću alata „DETERMINE“ također su nepovoljni: 82,1% osoba starijih od 70 godina ima visok nutritivni rizik dok 17,9% ima umjeren rizik. Ovim istraživanjem obuhvaćen je mali broj sudionika, potrebna su daljnja i opsežnija istraživanja kako bi se utvrdila realna slika stanja na terenu. Međutim, već i ovakvi rezultati ukazuju kako je problem malnutricije uistinu prisutan među osobama starije životne dobi.

Abstract (english)

Ageing of a population is global demographic trend in a constant growth, therefore, malnutrition which is characteristic for the elderly population is also on the rise. The aim of this study was to estimate nutritional status of elderly people at home care, and also to determine factors which affect adverse nutritional status. Questionnaire that has been used consists of validated tools (NRS - 2002, DETERMINE checklist), and basic anamnestic data. The study included 76 elderly people from City of Zagreb. After assessment of status using NRS-2002 it was established that 57.6% of persons are in nutritional risk. Results of a DETERMINE checklist are also very worrying: 82,1% of people (older than 70 years) are in high nutritional risk, and 17.9% of them are in moderate nutritional health. Number of participants in this study was small, so further and more research is necessary to determine the real situation. However, even these results already indicate that problem of malnutrition truly exists among elderly people at homecare.
