Abstract

Kukuruzni oklasci su lako dostupni u velikim količinama te imaju velik potencijal kao obnovljiva sirovina za budući razvoj biotehnološke proizvodnje utemeljene na lignocelulozi. Uzorci su samljeveni i prosijani kroz sito otvora veličine 1 mm i granulometrijski je određena raspodjela čestica po veličini. Nakon optimiranja trajanja ekstrakcije vodom i etanolom (8 h vodom i 24 h etanolom), analizirani su udjeli suhe tvari, pepela, proteina i celuloze. Suha tvar sirovine iznosila je 92,15 %, a sadržavala je 1,45 % pepela, 1,59 % proteina te 6,82% ukupnog ekstrakta (3,92 % vodenog i 2,90 % etanolnog ekstrakta). Celuloza je određivana dvjema metodama, a dobiveni rezultati se međusobno podudaraju te iznose oko 40 % od suhe tvari kukuruznih oklasaka.

Abstract (english)

Corn cobs are easily available in large amounts and have a great potential as a renewable raw material for future development of biotechnological production based on lignocellulose. The samples were grinded, passed through 1-mm sieves and the granulometric analysis of particle size distribution was done. After optimising duration of water and ethanol extraction (8 h for water and 24 h for ethanol), the samples were analyzed for their dry matter, ash, protein and cellulose content. Corn cobs contained 92.15 % of dry matter, wich was comprised of 1.45 % of ash, 1.59 % of protein and 6.82 % of total extract (3.92% and 2.90 % of water extract and ethanol extract, respectively). Cellulose was determined using two methods and the results obtained by both methods were around 40 % of the dry matter of corn cobs.
