Abstract

Uzimanje dodataka prehrani s ciljem poboljšanja sportske izvedbe je vrlo zastupljeno i u individualnim i u timskim sportovima. Iako postoji veći broj istraživanja o suplementaciji u timskim sportovima vrlo je malen broj onih specifično usmjerenih na košarku. Cilj ovog rada bio je utvrditi izbor, učestalost uzimanja i razloge uzimanja dodataka prehrani te stavove o uključivanju profesije sportskog nutricionista kao člana multidisciplinarnog tima stručnjaka u rad košarkaškog tima. Kao metoda procjene suplementacije sportske prehrane korišten je upitnik o uzimanju dodataka prehrani. Najčešće korišteni dodaci prehrani su magnezij (66,2 %), proteini sirutke (53,8 %), multivitamini (50,8 %), vitamin C (36,9 %), kalcij (29,2 %) i aminokiseline razgranatog lanca (23,1%). S obzirom na dobivene rezultate, dokazana je potreba za sportskim nutricionistom kao članom košarkaških timova s ulogom procjene i planiranja sportske prehrane te savjetovanja o pravilnim nutritivnim izborima i po potrebi suplementaciji dodacima prehrani.

Abstract (english)

Dietary supplements use with the aim of improving performance is widespread among athletes of both individual and team sports. Even though there are relatively sufficient data about dietary supplement use for team sports, data specific for use among basketball players is scarce. The main goal of this study was to determine choice, intake frequency and reasons of supplementation, and based on the results to comment the need for sports nutritionist as a member of multidisciplinary team supporting basketball players. The use of dietary supplement was assessed by a questionnaire. The most commonly used dietary supplements were magnesium (66.2 %), whey protein (53.8 %), multivitamins (50.8 %), vitamin C (36.9%), calcium (29.2%) and branched chain amino acids (23.1%). Results proved the need for sports nutritionist as a member of basketball team with the role of assessment and planning of sports nutrition and consulting players and team members about proper nutrition and justified supplementation.
