Abstract

Prehrana i način života imaju vrlo velik utjecaj na metaboličku homeostazu tj. na sve reakcijske procese koji se odvijaju unutar organizma i održavaju pojedinca zdravim. Nutrijenti su aktivne komponente koje se uključuju u metabolizam te u interakciji s drugim komponentama utječu na metaboličku stabilnost. Primjena metodologije matematičkog modeliranja koristan je i jednostavan alat u analiziranju bioloških procesa te omogućuje dobru podlogu za eksperimentalna istraživanja. U ovom radu provedena je analiza modela 1- ugljik metabolizma posredovanog folatom u programskom paketu CellDesigner. Ispitan je utjecaj različitih početnih koncentracija folata te smanjene aktivnosti enzima metionin sintaze na koncentraciju ostalih metabolita. Primjena računalnog programa CellDesigner pokazala se kao dobar temelj za predviđanje promjena metaboličkih koncentracija i brzina reakcija koje vežemo uz pojedina zdravstvena stanja izazvana vitaminskim deficitom.

Abstract (english)

Diet and life style have significant influence on metabolic homeostasis ie. all reaction processes that take place within the organism and keep the individual healthy. Nutrients are active components that are involved in metabolism and, in the interactions with other components, consequently affect metabolic stability. Mathematical modelling methodology can be usefully and simply applied for analysis of biological processes and provides a good foundation for experimental research. In this paper, analysis of 1-carbon metabolism mediated by folate was carried out in the CellDesigner software package. The effect of different initial folate concentrations and the decreased activity of methionine synthase on the concentration of other metabolites within folate-mediated 1-carbon metabolism have been studied. The application of the CellDesigner software proved to be a good basis for predicting changes in metabolic concentrations and the reaction rate associated with the individual health status caused by vitamin deficiency.
