Abstract

Cilj ovog istraživanja je odrediti utjecaj uvjeta heterotrofnog i fotoheterotrofnog uzgoja alge Euglena gracilis na rast biomase i sintezu paramylona tijekom kultivacije na Hutnerovoj podlozi. Na osnovi rezultata istraživanja vidljivo je da su veće vrijednosti pokazatelja uspješnosti bioprocesa dobivene tijekom heterotrofnog (Yx = 12,87 g/L, YX/S = 0,663 g/g, YP/S = 0,176 g/g, Pr=0,107 g/Lh) u odnosu na fotoheterotrofni (YX = 1,607 g/L, YX/S = 0,42 g/g, YP/S = 0,337 g/g, Pr=0,013 g/Lh) uzgoj alge E. gracilis. Nadalje, kratkotrajna izloženost svjetlosti tijekom heterotrofnog uzgoja E. gracilis ima signifikantan utjecaj na sintezu paramylona i rast biomase, a što je bitno za industrijsku proizvodnju paramylona, tj. β-1,3-glukana.

Abstract (english)

The main goal of this research was to define the impact of heterotrophic and photoheterotrophic conditions on the growth and paramylon synthesis during E. gracilis cultivation on the Hutner medium. Based on obtained results it is clear that higher bioprocess efficiency parameters were observed during heterotrophic (Yx = 12,87 g/L, YX/S = 0,663 g/g, YP/S = 0,176 g/g, Pr = 0,107 g/Lh) than during photoheterotrophic (YX = 1,607 g/L, YX/S = 0,42 g/g, YP/S = 0,337 g/g, Pr = 0,013 g/Lh) cultivation of E. gracilis. Furthermore, short term light exposition of E. gracilis during heterotrophic cultivation had significant impact on the paramylon synthesis and growth of E. gracilis what could be important for industrial production of paramylon (β-1,3-glucan).
