Abstract

Tradicionalan biološki postupak koji se koristi za uklanjanje dušika u obradi otpadnih voda zahtjeva odvojenu aerobnu i anaerobnu fazu, odnosno potrebna su dva odvojena bioreaktora. U reaktoru gdje se odvija proces nitrifikacije, aerobni autotrofni nitrifikanti oksidiraju NH4-N do NO2-N i zatim do NO3-N; u reaktoru gdje se odvija proces denitrifikacije, NO3-N se reducira do NO2-N i zatim do plinovitog dušika djelovanjem heterotrofnih denitrificirajućih bakterija u uvjetima bez kisika. Studije su pokazale da se proces nitrifikacije i denitrifikacije mogu odvijati istovremeno u istom reaktoru u uvjetima male koncentracije kisika, proces se naziva istovremena nitrifikacija i denitrifikacija.

Abstract (english)

The traditional biological process used in wastewater treatment to achieve nitrogen removal involves separate aerobic and anaerobic phases that are generally carried out in separate bioreactors or by different aeration intervals.In the nitrification compartment, aerobic autotrophic nitrifiers oxidize NH4 –N to NO2-N and then NO3-N; in the denitrification compartment, NO3-N is reduced to NO2-N and then to gaseous nitrogen compounds by heterotrophic denitrifying bacteria under anoxic conditions. Studies showed that nitrification and denitrification could occur concurrently in a single reactor under aerobic conditions, which is often referred to as the simultaneous (SND) nitrification and denitrification process.
