Antimikrobna aktivnost vodenog ekstrakta kadulje na odabrane mikroorganizme uzročnike dentooralnih oboljenja

Abstract

Dentooralno zdravlje kao dio općeg zdravlja predstavlja važan čimbenik kvalitete života. Unatoč naporima izražen je negativan trend kvalitete dentooralnog zdravlja u Republici Hrvatskoj te su bolesti usne šupljine u porastu. Jedan od ciljeva nacionalnog programa za preventivu i zaštitu oralnog zdravlja jest prevencija razvoja takvih oboljenja. Patogeni mikroorganizmi imaju značajnu ulogu u nastanku oboljenja u usnoj šupljini. Mnoga istraživanja upućuju na djelotvornost prirodnih spojeva u poboljšanju dentooralnog zdravlja. Jedan od primjera su različiti proizvodi dobiveni preradom kadulje. U ovom radu pripravljen je vodeni ekstrakt kadulje Salvia officinalis L. te su dobiveni ekstrakti u različitim koncentracijama aplicirani na odabrane dentalne patogene, Streptococcus mutans DSM 20523, Streptococcus intermedius DSM 20573, Streptococcus sanguinis DSM 20068 i Candida albicans 8 i određena je antimikrobna aktivnost koja se pokazala značajnom na sve testirane patogene.

Abstract (english)

Dental and oral health as part of general health is an important factor in quality of life. Despite the efforts, a negative trend in the quality of dental health in the Republic of Croatia has been detected, and diseases of the oral cavity are on the rise. One of the goals of National program for the prevention and protection of oral health is to prevent the development of such diseases. Pathogenic microorganisms play a significant role in development of diseases in oral cavity. Many studies point to the effectiveness of natural compounds in improving dental and oral health. Examples are various products obtained by processing sage. In this study aqueous extract of sage Salvia officinalis L. was prepared and the obtained extracts in different concentrations were applied to selected dental pathogens, Streptococcus mutans DSM 20523, Streptococcus intermedius DSM 20573, Streptococcus sanguinis DSM 20068 and Candida albicans 8; antimicrobial activity was determined and was significant on all tested pathogens.
