Abstract

U ovom radu je opisana denitrificirajuća defosfatacija s nitritom kao akceptorom elektrona. Denitrificirajuća defosfatacija je proces biološkog uklanjanja fosfora iz otpadne vode pomoću denitrificirajućih fosfor akumulirajućih organizama (DPAO) u anaerobno-anoksičnoj konfiguraciji. U anaerobnim uvjetima DPAO troše hlapive masne kiseline te ih pohranjuju kao polihidroksi alkanoate (PHA), pri čemu se troše rezerve glikogena i otpušta fosfor iz stanica. Zatim, u anoksičnim uvjetima DPAO troše PHA za unos i pohranu fosfata, nadopunjavaju rezerve glikogena, i odvija se stanični rast. Zbog inhibitornog učinka nitrita na mikroorganizme aktivnog mulja važno je održavati balans između primijenjene koncentracije nitrita i prilagođenosti aktivnog mulja. Kao povoljna koncentracija aktivnog mulja za proces denitrificirajuće defosfatacije navodi se 3-4 g/L, a povoljan izvor ugljika propionat, od istraženih izvora ugljika propionata, acetata, glukoze i butanske kiseline. U anaerobnoj fazi denitrificirajuće defosfatacije pri pH vrijednosti 8,0 su postigute najveće brzine otpuštanja fosfora, a iznad pH 8,0 je zabilježeno kemijsko taloženje fosfora.

Abstract (english)

In this thesis, denitrifying dephosphatation with nitrite as an electron acceptor is described. Denitrifying dephosphatation is the process of biological phosphorus removal from wastewater by denitrifying phosphorus accumulating organisms (DPAO) in an anaerobic-anoxic configuration. Under anaerobic conditions, DPAO consume volatile fatty acids and store them as polyhydroxy alkanoates (PHA), depleting glycogen reserves and releasing phosphorus from the cells. Then, under anoxic conditions, DPAO consume PHA for phosphate uptake and storage, replenish glycogen reserves, and cell growth takes place. Due to the inhibitory effect of nitrite on activated sludge microorganisms, it is important to maintain a balance between the applied nitrite concentration and the aclimatization of activated sludge. As a favorable concentration of activated sludge for the process of denitrifying dephosphating, 3-4 g/L is recomended, and a favorable carbon source is propionate, among the investigated carbon sources propionate, acetate, glucose and butanoic acid. In the anaerobic phase of denitrifying dephosphatation at pH 8.0, the highest phosphorus release rate was achieved, and above pH 8.0, chemical precipitation of phosphorus was recorded.
