Abstract

Pretilost je globalni javnozdravstveni problem. Liječenje pretilosti orijentirano je prema različitim prehrambenim intervencijama, uključujući i ketogenu dijetu koja je i dalje kontroverzna. Cilj rada bio je istražiti učinkovitost ketogene dijete u bolesnika s prekomjernom tjelesnom masom u usporedbi s drugim redukcijskim dijetama. U tu svrhu određenim ključnim riječima pretražene su baze PubMed, Scopus i Web of Science. Zadane uključujuće parametre zadovoljilo je 5 kontroliranih randomiziranih studija koje su detaljno analizirane. Skupni rezultati pokazali su da je došlo do gubitka kilograma kod ispitanika na ketogenoj dijeti, ali i na ostalim dijetama, bez statistički značajne razlike. Zaključeno je da je ketogena dijeta efikasna za gubitak na tjelesnoj masi, ali ne više od redukcijskih dijeta prakticiranih u eksperimentalnim skupinama.

Abstract (english)

Obesity is a global public health problem. The treatment of obesity is oriented towards various dietary interventions, including a ketogenic diet that remains controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of a ketogenic diet in overweight and obese patients comparing it with other reduction diets. For this purpose, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science databases were searched using certain keywords. The corresponding inclusion parameters were met by 5 controlled randomized studies that were analyzed in detail. The pooled results showed that there was weight loss in subjects on the ketogenic diet, but also on other diets, without a statistically significant difference. It was concluded that the ketogenic diet is effective for weight loss, but no more than the reduction diets applied in the experimental groups.
