Abstract

Cilj ovog rada je prikazati trenutne spoznaje o prehrani sportaša s invaliditetom te kako fiziološke promjene uzrokovane invaliditetom utječu na nutritivne potrebe sportaša. Iako je praćenje sporta osoba s invaliditetom započelo nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, malobrojna su istraživanja o potrebama sportaša s invaliditetom te službene preporuke navedene populacije ne postoje. Razlog tome je postojanje mnogobrojnih vrsta invaliditeta, ali i individualnih razlika u osoba s istom vrstom invaliditeta. Prehrana sportaša s invaliditetom prati preporuke za prehranu sportaša bez invaliditeta, ali je individualni pristup vrlo bitan zbog zdravstvenih stanja pojedinaca. Prilikom planiranja prehrane sportaša s invaliditetom važno je zadovoljiti dnevne energetske potrebe ovisno o vrsti i intenzitetu tjelesne aktivnosti, kao i unos ugljikohidrata i proteina. Nadalje, potrebno je osigurati adekvatni unos vitamina B skupine, vitamina D, kalcija, fosfora i željeza čiji je unos često nedovoljan u ovoj populaciji.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this thesis was to collect currently known facts in sports nutrition for para athletes and how the physiological changes caused by disability impact the nutritional needs of para athletes. While the monitoring of sports for persons with disabilities started after the World War II, there is only a small amount of research about the nutritional needs in para athletes available. To this date, there are no official guidelines for this population available. The main cause of that is the major diversity of types of disabilities and the individual differences in the same type of disability. The nutritional needs for para athletes follow the recommendations for the nutritional needs for able-body athletes, but an individual approach is very important due to the health conditions of individuals. When planning the diet for para athletes, it is important to meet daily energy needs depending on the type and intensity of the physical activity, as well as carbohydrate and protein intake. Furthermore, it is necessary to ensure adequate intake of B vitamin group, vitamin D, calcium, phosphorus and iron, the intake of which is often insufficient in this population.
