Abstract

Uzgoj zelenih jednostaničnih algi poput Chlorella vulgaris ekološki je prihvatljiv i odrţiv proces. Sinteza različitih visokovrijednih proizvoda u ovim mikroalgama polje je interesa, a uspostavljanje ekonomski prihvatljivih bioprocesa i dalje je veliki izazov. Cilj ovoga rada bio je provesti fototrofni i miksotrofni uzgoj uz usporedbu sastava biomase dobivene tijekom uzgoja. Miksotrofni uzgoj doprinosi višim prinosima biomase te posljedično nakupljanja veće količine proizvoda od interesa. Maksimalni prinos biomase dobiven u ovom radu pri miksotrofnim uvjetima iznosio je 16,79 g L-1 dok je produktivnost sinteze biomase sedamnaestog dana uzgoja iznosila 3,48 g L-1 dan-1. Najzastupljenije makromolekule u biomasi C. vulgaris u fototrofnim i miksotrofnim uvjetima su proteini s udjelom većim od 40 %. Način uzgoja utječe na udio klorofila a i b u stanici. Kod fototrofnog uzgoja udio klorofila je i do deset puta veći nego u biomasi narasloj u miksotrofnim uvjetima uzgoja. Povećanjem molarnog omjera ugljika i dušika pri miksotrofnim uvjetima rasta udio ugljikohidrata i lipida u biomasi se povećao.

Abstract (english)

Cultivation of green unicellular algae such as Chlorella vulgaris is an environmentally friendly and sustainable process. The synthesis of various high-value products in these microalgae is a field of interest, and the establishment of economically feasible bioprocesses remains a major challenge. The goal of this work was to carry out phototrophic and mixotrophic cultivation and compare the composition of biomass obtained during cultivation. Mixotrophic cultivation contributes to higher biomass yields and consequently the accumulation of products of interest. The maximum biomass yield obtained in this work was under mixotrophic conditions as high as 16.79 g L-1 while the productivity of biomass synthesis on the seventeenth day of cultivation was 3.48 g L-1 day-1. The most abundant macromolecules in C. vulgaris biomass under phototrophic and mixotrophic conditions are proteins with a ratio greater than 40 %. The mode of cultivation affected the proportion of chlorophyll a and b in the cell. In phototrophic cultivation, the proportion of chlorophyll is up to ten times higher than in biomass grown under mixotrophic cultivation conditions. By increasing the molar ratio of carbon and nitrogen under mixotrophic growth conditions, the proportion of carbohydrates and lipids in the biomass increased.
