Izvrstan je izvor brojnih biološki aktivnih molekula- flavonoida, fenolnih kiselina, karotenoida, fitosterola, vitamina C, E i A, raznih minerala, polinezasićenih masnih kiselina, zbog čega posjeduje antioksidativno, anitimikrobno, protuupalno, citoprotektivno, antitumorsko, kardioprotektivno, neuroprotektivno, imunomodulatorno, hepatoprotektivno, antihipertenzivno i antidijabetičko djelovanje. |
Abstract (english) | Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) is a deciduous shrubby plant from the family Elaeagnaceae, native in Europe and Asia. It is an excellent source of numerous biologically active molecules - flavonoids, phenolic acids, carotenoids, phytosterols, vitamins C, E and A, various minerals, polyunsaturated fatty acids, which is why it has antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, cytoprotective, antitumor, cardioprotective, neuroprotective, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective, antihypertensive and antidiabetic effect. Beside medical use, sea buckthorn parts, mainly fruits, can be processed into products such as juice, alcoholic beverages, jams, tea, oil or used as an additive in the production of bread, meat and dairy products, baby food. In Croatia it is very rarely present in cultivation or it is subspontaneously expanded, mainly found in the area of Međimurje and Podravina, along the rivers Mura and Drava. Because of that, it represents valuable and unique specimen of endangered vegetation, which is why it should be given appropriate natural significance and protection for further preservation. |
