Utjecaj unosa nutrijenata i određenih skupina namirnica na mineralnu gustoću kostiju u žena starije dobi

Abstract

Porastom dobi dolazi do smanjenja mišićne i koštane mase, što može dovesti do razvoja osteoporoze, a žene u postmenopauzi su pod posebnim rizikom. S obzirom da je prehrana važan čimbenik povezan sa zdravljem kostiju, cilj ovog rada bio je utvrditi postoji li povezanost unosa nutrijenata i promatranih skupina namirnica s mineralnom gustoćom kosti (BMD, eng. bone mineral density) u žena starije dobi. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 49 ispitanica prosječne dobi 74,1 ± 6,3 godina. Unos nutrijenata i određenih skupina namirnica procijenjen je metodom 24-h prisjećanja unosa hrane i pića, a BMD kralježnice, vrata femura i cijelog kuka je utvrđen denzitometrijom. Utvrđena je statistički značajna pozitivna korelacija između unosa proteina i BMD-a kralježnice (r=0,32; p<0,05) te unosa vitamina D i BMD-a na svim mjerenim mjestima (r=0,29-0,42; p<0,05). Od mliječnih proizvoda jedino je unos polutvrdog sira statistički značajno pozitivno korelirao s BMD-om vrata femura (r=0,33; p<0,05). Adekvatan unos nutrijenata važnih za zdravlje kostiju i pojedinih namirnica i skupina namirnica može biti optimalna intervencija za sprječavanje gubitka BMD-a.

Abstract (english)

With increasing age, there is a decrease in muscle and bone mass, which can lead to the development of osteoporosis, and postmenopausal women are at special risk. Since diet is an important factor influencing bone health, the aim of this study was to determine whether the intake of nutrients and certain food groups has an effect on bone mineral density (BMD) in older women. In this study were included 49 participants with an average age 74.1 ± 6.3 years. Intake of nutrients and certain food groups were assessed by the 24-hour recall, and BMD of the spine, femoral neck, and total hip was determined by densitometry. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between protein intake and BMD of the spine (r=0.32; p<0.05), and between vitamin D intake and BMD at all measured sites (r=0.29-0.42; p<0.05). Out of dairy products, a statistically significant positive correlation was found only between the intake of semi-hard cheese and BMD of the femoral neck (r=0.33; p<0.05). Adequate intake of nutrients is important for bone health and certain foods and food groups may be the optimal intervention to prevent BMD loss.
