Abstract

Fosfor je jedan od vitalnih elemenata za rast biljaka te se kao takav najviše koristi u poljoprivredi u obliku mineralnih gnojiva. Iz tog razloga se provode istraživanja najboljeg načina iskorištavanja aktivnog mulja u poljoprivredi. Pročišćavanjem komunalne otpadne vode nastaje velika količina aktivnog mulja koji ima potencijala za iskorištavanje u tehnologijama održivog razvoja. Jedna od tih je i oporavak fosfora iz aktivnog mulja čime se on vraća u prirodni ciklus. Danas su poznati brojni procesi tretiranja mulja koji se implementiraju diljem Europske Unije. Zbog porasta stanovništva i sve većom potrebom za hranom ovi procesi postaju jedan od najvećih inženjerskih problema danas. Dok vodeće europske države rade na što većoj optimizaciji svojih procesa rukovanja aktivnim muljem kako bi se što veći postotak mogao koristiti u poljoprivredi, vidljivo je da Hrvatska iako s potencijalom, nema implementiran sustav iskorištenja istog.

Abstract (english)

Phosphorus is one of the vital elements for plant growth and with that it's mostly used in agriculture in form of chemical fertilizers. For this reason, research is being conducted on the best way to use activated sludge in agriculture. Urban wastewater treatment generates large amounts of activated sludge that has the potential to be exploited in sustainable development technologies. One of which is the recovery of phosphorus from activated sludge, which returns it to the natural phosphorus cycle. Today, several sludge treatment processes are known that are implemented throughout the European Union. Due to population growth and the growing need for food, these processes are becoming one of the biggest engineering problems today. While the leading European countries are working on optimizing their processes for the management of activated sludge so that the highest possible percentage can be used in agriculture, it is evident that Croatia, although with potential, does not have a system in place to use it.
