Abstract

Željezo ima brojne uloge u metabolizmu energije i transportu kisika zbog čega je od iznimne važnosti za aktivne pojedince te njihovu sportsku izvedbu i oporavak. Faktori rizika za manjak željeza uključuju ženski spol, intenzivnu tjelesnu aktivnost (osobito sportove izdržljivosti), vegetarijanstvo i nizak energetski unos. Cilj ovog rada bio je provjeriti hipotezu da postoji veza između tjelesne aktivnosti i obrazaca prehrane čija se kvaliteta potencijalno može povezati sa sadržajem feritina. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 17 rekreativnih sportašica Atletskog kluba Križevci dobi 26-61 godinu. Prikupljeni su trodnevni dnevnici prehrane, antropometrijski i hematološki podaci ispitanica. Dobiveni rezultati obrađeni su u XLSTAT Microsoft Excel programu gdje je opisana povezanost prehrambenih, antropometrijskih i hematoloških parametara na razini svih 17 ispitanica te na njihovoj individualnoj razini. Kako bi se procijenila povezanost između prikupljenih podataka te koncentracije feritina i Fe u krvi kreirani su modeli parcijalne regresije metodom najmanjih kvadrata (PLS). Ustanovljena je bolja povezanost varijabli za predikciju koncentracije feritina i željeza u krvi ako se u obzir uzimaju samo antropometrijski parametri u odnosu na samo prehrambene parametre ili prehrambene i antropometrijske parametre zajedno.

Abstract (english)

Iron plays numerous roles in energy metabolism and oxygen transport, which is why it is extremely important for active individuals and their sports performance and recovery. Risk factors for iron deficiency include female sex, vigorous intensity physical activities (especially endurance sports), vegetarianism and low energy intake. The aim of this paper was to test the hypothesis that there is a relationship between physical activity and dietary patterns, the quality of which can potentially be linked to ferritin content. 17 female recreational athletes of the “Atletski klub Križevci”, aged 26-61, participated in the research. Three-day food diaries, anthropometric and hematological data of the subjects were collected. The obtained results were analyzed in the XLSTAT Microsoft Excel program, where the relationship between nutritional, anthropometric and hematological parameters was described at the level of all 17 subjects and at their individual level. In order to assess the relationship between the collected data and the concentration of ferritin and Fe in the blood, PLS regression models were created. It was established that the relationship between the variables is better if only anthropometric parameters are taken into account compared to observing only dietary parameters or dietary and anthropometric parameters together.
