Abstract

Molekularni strojevi relativno su mlada tema istraživanja znanstvenika širom svijeta. Zbog svoje veličine i najčešće kompleksne strukture predstavljaju izazov znanstvenicima iz mnogih područja, uključujući kemiju, biologiju, biokemiju, fiziku, strojarstvo, a pripadaju području nanotehnologije. Njihova djelotvornost istražuje se s ciljem primjene u različitim spektrima života, a ponajviše medicini i kemiji. Brojne podjele se mogu sažeti u jednu sveobuhvatnu, a to je na prirodne, sintetske i hibridne molekularne strojeve. Svaka kategorija te podjele ima brojne prednosti i nedostatke vezane za istraživanje, ali i primjenu u industriji i medicini. Cilj rada bio je predstaviti različite vrste molekularnih strojeva, dati uvid u izazove koji stoje pred znanstvenicima vezane uz njihovu primjenu i opisati neka od dostignuća nanotehnologije.

Abstract (english)

Molecular machines are relatively new topic of scientific research. Because of their small size and often complex structure they present challenge for scientist from many areas of research, including chemistry, biology, physics, and mechanical engineering. They belong to nanotechnology. Effectiveness of molecular machines is researched with purpose of application in different spectrums of life, mostly in medicine and chemistry. There are many different classificationsdivisions of molecular machines but only one is all-encompassing - and that is division on natural, synthetic and hybrid molecular machines. Every category has different positive and negative sides regarding scientific research and application in industry and medicine. Purpose of this thesis was to present different types of molecular machines, give insight in challenges regarding their application and describe new achievements of nanotechnology.
