Abstract

Starija životna dob sa sobom nosi određene zdravstvene probleme i općeniti pad kvalitete života. Pridržavanjem pravilne prehrane osobe starije životne dobi mogu odgoditi, ublažiti ili liječiti bolesti. Kako bi rastućem broju starijih u RH prenijeli znanje o prehrani potrebno ih je educirati. Odnosi omjera opsega struka i bokova se nisu mogli usporediti sa znanjem ispitanika dobivenim upitnikom jer su svi ispitanici imali veće odnose omjera od granične vrijednosti. Abstract (english)

Older age brings certain health problems and a general decline in the quality of life. By following anadequate, well balanced diet, elderly people can delay, alleviate or treat diseases. In order to impart nutrition knowledge to the growing number of elderly people in the Republic of Croatia, it is necessary to educate them. The aim of this research was to collect data on the nutrition knowledge of elderly people and to compare obtained results with regard to their waist and hip... More circumference ratio. Data were collected using a modified General Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire. Respondents' knowledge obtained by the questionnaire could not be compared with the ratio of waist and hip circumferences because all the respondents had ratios higher than the threshold value.
