Abstract

Dijabetes je vodeći javnozdravstveni problem unazad nekoliko desetljeća i uzrok raznih vaskularnih komplikacija, kao što je dijabetička nefropatija. Ona je vodeći uzrok zatajenja bubrega u svijetu, zbog čega su odgovarajuća dijetoterapija i adekvatna regulacija bolesti ključni čimbenici u očuvanju funkcije bubrega i usporavanju progresije bolesti. Temelj standardne dijetoterapije kod dijabetičke nefropatije su kvantitativan unos i raspodjela unosa makronutrijenata te unos fosfora, kalija i natrija. Novija istraživanja ukazuju na važnost i potencijal crijevne mikrobiote i minerala koji do sada nisu bili dio standardne dijetoterapije kod dijabetičke nefropatije, kao što su kalcij, željezo i magnezij. Cilj ovog završnog rada bio je sumirati suvremena znanja iz područja dijetoterapije kod dijabetičke nefropatije u svrhu kvalitetnijeg pristupa pacijentu te boljem razumijevanju nutritivnih potreba oboljelih s obzirom na patofiziologiju bolesti.

Abstract (english)

Diabetes has been a leading public health problemand couses various vascular complications, such as diabetic nephropathy. Diabetic nephropathy is the leading cause of kidney failure in the world, which is why proper diet therapy and adequate regulation of the disease are key factors in perserving kidney function and slowing the progresion of the disease. Part of the standard diet therapy is the quantitative intake of macronutrients and the intake of phosphorus, potassium and sodium. Recent research indicates the importance and potential of intestinal microbiota and minerals, which until now have not been part of standard diet therapy for diabetic nephropathy such as calcium, iron and magnesium. The aim of this final thesis is to summarise the current knowledge in the field of dietetics in diabetic nephropathy in order to provde a better approach to the patient and a better understanding of the nutritional needs of patients with regard to the pathophysiology of the disease.
