Abstract

Dodaci prehrani koriste se od strane profesionalnih i rekreativnih sportaša za poboljšanje sportske izvedbe i ubrzanje oporavka. Tjelesna aktivnost usko je povezana sa zdravljem i funkcijom gastrointestinalnog sustava te povoljno utječe na njihovo održavanje. Međutim, kod intenzivne tjelesne aktivnosti moguća je pojava gastrointestinalnih simptoma (nadutost, mučnina, želučani grčevi, podrigivanje, bolovi u trbuhu, dijareja, povraćanje), koji mogu negativno utjecati na sportsku izvedbu. Pojedini dodaci prehrani (npr. probiotici, glutamin, goveđi kolostrum) regulacijom imunosnog sustava, održavanjem integriteta crijevne barijere te utjecajem na sastav crijevne mikrobiote mogu povoljno utjecati na funkciju gastrointestinalnog sustava tijekom vježbanja. S druge strane, pojedini ergogeni dodaci prehrani (npr. ugljikohidrati, kofein, natrijev bikarbonat) mogu nepovoljno utjecati na integritet crijevne barijere te tako negativno utjecati na sportsku izvedbu. U ovom radu objedinjeni su pokazatelji potencijala pojedinih dodataka prehrani koji povoljno utječu na funkciju gastrointestinalnog sustava tijekom tjelesne aktivnosti, ali i onih koji nepovoljno utječu na integritet crijevne barijere

Abstract (english)

Dietary supplements are used by professional and recreational athletes to improve athletic performance and accelerate recovery. Physical activity is closely related to the health and function of the gastrointestinal system and has a beneficial effect on its maintenance. However, intense physical activity may cause gastrointestinal symptoms (bloating, nausea, stomach cramps, belching, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, vomiting), which may negatively affect athletic performance. Certain dietary supplements (e.g., probiotics, glutamine, bovine colostrum) may favorably affect gastrointestinal system function during exercise by regulating the immune system, maintaining the integrity of the intestinal barrier, and influencing the composition of the gut microbiota. On the other hand, some ergogenic supplements (e.g., carbohydrates, caffeine, sodium bicarbonate) may compromise intestinal barrier integrity and thus negatively affect athletic performance. This work combines indicators of the potential of individual dietary supplements that have a positive effect on gastrointestinal system function during physical activity, as well as those that impair intestinal barrier integrity.
