Abstract

Olimpijsko dizanje utega je sport u kojem se natjecatelji natječu s ciljem podizanja maksimalne težine. Suplementacija kreatinom je česta kod olimpijskih dizača utega. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi protokol suplementacije, razloge suplementacije te znanje o kreatinu kod olimpijskih dizača utega. U istraživanju provedenom putem individualnog intervjua sudjelovali su iskusni dizači utega (n=41, 16 žena, 25 muškaraca), s prosječnim iskustvom treniranja od 5 godina, prosječne dobi 26 godina (18-43 godine). Najčešće konzumirana doza kreatina (n=27) iznosi 5 grama. Većina ispitanika (97,5 %) koristi kreatin monohidrat, dok samo jedan ispitanik koristi kreatin etil-ester. Većina ispitanika (92,6 %) ne prakticira fazu punjenja kreatinom. Od 13 tvrdnji povezanih sa znanjem o kreatinu, svaki ispitanik je u prosjeku za 69 % tvrdnji točno naznačio njihovu (ne)točnost. Najveći broj ispitanika (n=41) je prepoznao da je tvrdnja kako je kreatin jednako djelotvoran za muškarce i žene točna, dok 29 ispitanika pogrešno smatra da kreatin uzrokuje zadržavanje vode u tijelu.

Abstract (english)

Olympic weightlifting is a sport in which competitors compete intending to lift a maximum weight. Creatine supplementation is common among Olympic weightlifters. This research aimed to determine the supplementation protocol, reasons for supplementation, and creatine knowledge in Olympic weightlifters. Experienced weightlifters (n=41, 16 women, 25 men), with an average training experience of 5 years, average age of 26 years (18-43 years), participated in the research conducted through individual interviews. The most commonly consumed dose of creatine (n=27) is 5 grams. Most respondents (97.5 %) use creatine monohydrate, while only one respondent uses creatine ethyl ester. The majority of respondents (92.6 %) do not practice the creatine loading phase. Of the 13 statements related to knowledge about creatine, each respondent correctly indicated their (in)accuracy for an average of 69 % of the statements. The largest number of respondents (n=41) recognized that the statement that creatine is equally effective for men and women is correct, while 29 respondents mistakenly believe that creatine causes water retention.
