Abstract

Hipertenzija predstavlja javnozdravstveni problem te je čimbenik rizika za razvoj kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Poznato je kako prehrana ima važnu ulogu u prevenciji, ali i u liječenju hipertenzije. Ciljevi ovog istraživanja bili su utvrditi povezanost antropometrijskih parametara i prehrambenih navika ispitanika s hipertenzijom te provođenjem dvostruko maskiranog pokusa istražiti utjecaj unosa nitrata na biokemijske parametre i vrijednosti sistoličkog i dijastoličkog krvnog tlaka u ispitanika s hipertenzijom raspodijeljenih u dvije skupine koje su dobivale različitu količinu nitrata (500 mg i < 80 mg) tijekom 16 tjedana. Rezultati istraživanja pokazali su manju kvalitetu prehrane ispitanika u odnosu na preporuke te je većina ispitanika imala adekvatne vrijednosti opsega struka, omjera struka i bokova te postotak masnog tkiva, dok su im ITM, opseg vrata te omjer struka i tjelesne visine odstupali od poželjnih vrijednosti. Rezultati nisu pokazali jasan utjecaj nitrata na krvni tlak i promatrane biokemijske parametre među ispitanicima s obzirom na različitu količinu unosa nitrata.

Abstract (english)

Hypertension is a public health problem and risk factor for developing cardiovascular diseases. It is known that nutrition plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of hypertension. The objectives of this research were to determine the association between antropometric parameters and dietary habits of subjects with hypertension. Also, to investigate, conducting duble masked experiment, the effects of nitrate intake on biochemical parameters and systolic and diastolic blood pressure among the subjects with hypertension divided into two groups that received different amount of nitrates (500 mg and < 80 mg) throughout the period of 16 weeks. The results showed a lower quality of the respondents' diet compared to the recommendations. Also, most of the respondents had acceptable values of waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio and body fat percentage, while their BMI, neck circumference and waist-to-body height ratio deviated from desired values. The results did not show a clear influence of nitrates on blood pressure and observed biochemical parameters among subjects in both observed groups.
