Abstract

Prekomjerna tjelesna masa najveći zdravstveni problem u svijetu. Doprinos konzumacija slatkih napitaka razvoju pretilosti smatra se značajnim. Postojeće nacionalne prehrambene smjernice za djecu ne uključuju preporuke za unos vode, ni kvantitativne preporuke za ostala pića. Cilj ovog rada bio je utvrditi dnevni unos pića u male djece i njihov doprinos unosu energije. U istraživanje je uključeno 96 ispitanika, djeca dobi 12-36 mjeseci. U ispitivanom uzorku djece utvrđeno je da mala djeca ne unose dovoljnu količinu vode (uključujući sve izvore) te da od pića najviše konzumiraju mlijeko. Isto tako, uočen je i niski-umjereni unos slatkih napitaka (4,65 % dnevnog unosa energije). Od pića s dodanim šećerom, mala djeca najviše su konzumirala bezalkoholna osvježavajuća pića te voćne nektare. Bez adekvatne edukacije i preporuka o napitcima obogaćenim šećerom, roditelji i skrbnici nude djeci piće i porciju napitka koju smatraju pogodnom.

Abstract (english)

Today, overweight is one of the biggest healthy problem in the world. Consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages has been implicated as significant cause of obesity. Current Croatian dietary recommendation doesn't include any recommendation about water intake pattern and other beverages. The aim of this thesis was to identify beverages intake and their share in daily energy intake in toddlers. Research were from sample of 96 Croatian children aged 1-3 years. We observed that Croatian children don't intake enough water, from all source, and milk was the leading source of calories from beverages. Also, Croatian children are low-moderate consumers of sugar sweetened beverages. The proportion of total energy intake from sugar sweetened beverages is 4,65 %. The main source of sugar sweetened beverages in the diet of Croatian toddlers are carbonated soft drink and fruit drink. Without intervations such as education and setting guidelines about sugar-sweetened beverages, the parents and caregivers have been left alone to serve whatever beverage and portion they consider suitable.
