Abstract

Korištenje SSF-procesa vuče korijene daleko u prošlost, kada su se procesi koristili za dobivanje
fermentirane hrane i pića. Glavna razlika između SSF i submerznih bioprocesa je činjenica da u SSFprocesima
nema slobodne vode u obliku tekućine. Iako biotehnološka primjena SSF-procesa ima svoja
ograničenja, u nekim slučajevima oni se nameću kao jedina metoda proizvodnje određenog proizvoda ili
predstavljaju bolju opciju za proizvodnju, a mogućnost korištenja otpadnih lignoceluloznih sirovina čini
ovaj proces dijelom koncepta održivog razvoja. U ovom završnom radu prikazane su osnovne karakteristike
SSF-procesa i vrste bioreaktora koji se koriste. Opisana je konstrukcija i osnovne karakteristike bioreaktora
s rotirajućim bubnjem i bioreaktora s bubnjem i miješanjem. Prikazani su primjeri procesa u kojima je ovaj
tip bioreaktora primijenjen u različitim mjerilima. Ukratko su prikazane glavne značajke miješanja i
fenomeni transporta u bioreaktorima s rotirajućim bubnjem.

Abstract (english)

Usage of SSF-processes dates back into history, where they were used for production of
fermented food and beverages. The main difference between submerged processes and SSF-processes is
the fact that SSF-processes do not have any free flowing water. Although usage of SSF-processes has its
limitations, in some cases they can be the only option for obtaining a certain product or can be a better
option for production of a certain product, and usage of waste lignocellulosic raw materials puts SSFprocesses
in the concept of sustainable development. In this final work we will provide an insight into
general characteristics of SSF bioprocesses and on types of SSF bioreactors. Furthermore, we will
provide design characteristics and operating variables of bioreactors with rotating drums and those with
stirred drums, along with their applications and transport phenomena which occur in such systems.
