Abstract

Adekvatan status folata i vitamina B12 ima vaţnu ulogu u javnom zdravlju budući da se povezuje s prevencijom porođajnih malformacija i kardiovaskularnih bolesti. Cilj rada bio je ispitati odnos prehrambenog unosa vitamina B skupine (folata i vitamina B12) i razina u serumu vitamina (folata i vitamina B12). Istraživanje je provedeno među zdravom odraslom populacijom oba spola (n=98) prosječne dobi 37,1±6,8 godina. U istraživanju je kao dijetetiĉka metoda korišteno 24-satno prisjećanje kroz 2 godišnja doba. Rezultati su pokazali da žene imaju statistiĉki znaĉajno niži indeks tjelesne mase u odnosu na muškarce. U istraživanju je utvrđena negativna statistički značajna (p<0,05) korelacija između serumskih koncentracija folata i vitamina B12 i indeksa tjelesne mase te tjelesne mase. Utvrđena je pozitivna statistički značajna (p<0,05) korelacija između serumskih koncentracija folata i prehrambenih vlakana te negativna statistički značajna (p<0,05) korelacija između serumskih koncentracija vitamina B12 i prehrambenih vlakana. Utvrđeno je da je prehrana ispitanika deficitarna u žena na folatu, a u muškaraca na riboflavinu. Prosječne razine u serumu folata i vitamina B12 unutar su referentnih vrijednosti. Najveći broj dobivenih rezultata u skladu je sa sličnim istraživanjima.

Abstract (english)

Adequate status of folate and vitamin B12 plays an important role in public health as it relates to the prevention of birth malformations and cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between dietary intake of the B vitamins (folate and vitamin B12) and serum levels of vitamins (folate and vitamin B12). The study was conducted among healthy adults of both sexes (n = 98), mean age 37,1±6,8 years. In this study, dietetic method was 24-hour recall during 2 seasons. The results showed that women had significantly lower body mass index than men. The study found a statistically significant negative (p <0.05) correlation between serum folate and vitamin B12 and body mass index and body weight. There was a positive, statistically significant (p <0.05) correlation between serum folate and dietary fiber and negative statistically significant (p <0.05) correlation between serum vitamin B12 and dietary fiber. It was found that the diet is deficient in women to folate,and in men to riboflavin. Average levels of serum folate and vitamin B12 were within reference values. The largest number of results is consistent with similar studies.
