Abstract

Hibridne topole (Populus spp.) su uzgajane zbog njihove produktivnosti i potencijala koji posjeduju u polju proizvodnje bioenergije. Međutim, sklone su napadima patogena s mnogo višim nivoem evolucije od njihovog. Melampsora larici-populina je uzročnik “hrđanja” listova, jedne od najrasprostranjenijih bolesti u topole. Prijašnje studije otkrile su nekoliko rezistentnih gena u topole, lokaliziranih na kromosomu XIX, u području bogatom NBS-LRR genima. Polimorfni mikrosatelitni marker su korišteni za izradu genetičkih mapa kromosoma XIX kod nekoliko P. deltoides roditelja. Veza između markera i faktora rezistencije, koji segregiraju u potomcima tih roditelja, su bili testirani kako bi se prikupile informacije o rezistentnim faktorima. Rezultati su pokazali kako su ti faktori lokalizirani na kromosomu XIX, potvrđujući time početnu hipotezu. Genotipizacija, naime, nije u potpunosti završena, jer još uvijek ima markera koje treba testirati, kako bi se mogli izvući konkretniji zaključci.

Abstract (english)

Hybrid poplars (Populus spp.) are extensively cultivated for their productivity and have a potential for bioenergy production. However, they are prone to attack by pathogens with much quicker evolutionary rates. Melampsora larici-populina is a cause of leaf rust, one of the most widely distributed diseases in poplar. Previous studies have found several resistance genes in poplar, localized on the chromosome XIX in an area rich in NBS-LRR genes. Polymorphic microsatellite markers were used to construct genetic maps of chromosome XIX of several P. deltoides parents. The linkage between the markers and resistance factors segregating from these parents was tested in order to gather information on the position of several resistance factors. Results showed that they are positioned on chromosome XIX, confirming the initial hypothesis. The genotyping was not yet completed because there are still some markers to be tested in order to be able to make firmer conclusions.
