Abstract

Danas je na svjetskom tržištu prisutan veliki broj raznih prehrambenih proizvoda koji su vrlo različiti po cijeni i kvaliteti. Veliki broj tih proizvoda nema konkretne podatke koji mu potvrđuju kvalitetu kakvu tržište i kupci potražuju. Da bi prozvodi postigli određenu cijenu prozvođači su dobili mogućnost zaštite svog proizvoda u svrhu postizanja što boljeg ugleda, kvalitete i cijene kako na domaćem tako i na europskom i svjetskom tržištu. EU je 1992. godine stvorila sustave oznaka izvornosti ( PDO – Protected Destignation of Orinig ) i oznake zemljopisnog podrijetla (PGI – Protected Geographical Indication). Republika Hrvatska je 2005. godine donijela zakone koji takvu zaštitu omogućuju domaćim proizvođačima koja bi im osigurala konkurentnost na domaćem i inozemnom tržištu. Maslinovo ulje je važan proizvod hrvatskih proizvođača zbog svoje stoljetne tradicije i ugleda. Da bi postalo konkurentno velikim svjetskim proizvođačima potrebno je provesti registraciju i zaštitu kako na nacionalnoj, tako i na europskoj razini.

Abstract (english)

The world market contains a large number of food products which differ in price and quality. Modern consumers are very demanding and they want to have information about the quality of products, which is not always available. Today the manufacturers are able to protect their products in order to achieve a better reputation, quality and price, both at the domestic and European and world markets. In 1992 the EU had adopted the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) and the PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) systems. In 2005 the Republic of Croatia had adopted a law which provides such protection to Croatian products as well, in order to ensure their competitiveness at the domestic and international markets. Olive oil is an important Croatian product, with a century-long tradition and reputation. In order to make it competitive to other world producers, it needs to be registered and protected both at the national and European level.
