Prosječna energetska vrijednost cjelodnevnog školskog obroka u OŠ A iznosi 1088,8 ± 214,1 kcal, a u OŠ B 609,8 ± 142,7 kcal. |
Abstract (english) | Diet of students in elementary school is one of the biggest public health problem in almost every country in the world. It is considered that improvement in quality of school meals can have positive influence on growth and development of students, and also on development in quality of life. The goal of this study was to evaluate energetic and nutritional quality of school meals compared with „National guidelines for nutrition of students in elementary school“. In this study participated two elementary schools, from city of Zagreb (A) and from Zagreb county (B). Average energy value of all day school meals in school A was 1088,8 ± 214,1 kcal, and in school B was 609,8 ± 142,7 kcal. In both schools there is breakfast and lunch with higher and with lower energy value than it is recommended. In school B was established disadvantageous ratio of macronutrients. The average daily portion of saturated fat and added sugar provided by school meals is higher than recommended in both schools. Nutritional value of school meals was estimated by Meal IQ, from possible 28 points, is 11,5 ± 5,1 points in school A, and 11,0 ± 2,1 points in school B for ages 7-11, and for age over 11 it is 11,2 ± 4,8 points in school A, and 10,9 ± 2,1 points in school B. From the given results it can be concluded that there is a need to improve schools menus. |
