Abstract

Vino je kompleksna namirnica prisutna od samih početaka ljudske civilizacije. Ljudi su oduvijek intuitivno znali za njegove pozitivne učinke na zdravlje, a moderna znanost ih potvrđuje, posebice od otkrića fitokemikalija kojima se pripisuju zdravstvene dobrobiti vina. Smatra se da najbolje učinke ima crveno vino konzumirano u sklopu mediteranske prehrane, a Hrvatska je zemlja dijelom mediteranskog podneblja. Cilj ovog rada je pregled novijih saznanja o povezanosti vina i zdravlja te utjecajima vina pozivajući se na mišljenje hrvatskih stručnjaka o vinu. Pregledom važnije literature može se zaključiti kako umjerena konzumacija vina nije samo pogodno za ljudsko zdravlje nego i za marketinško pozicioniranje Hrvatske u EU kao zemlje s dugotrajnom kulturom proizvodnje vina.

Abstract (english)

Wine is a complex beverage relevant to humanity throughout the history. People had always known about wine's health benefits and modern science is now confirming them. The effects of wine consumption were put in the spotlight, especially after the discovery of phytochemicals which are the main contributors to wine's health benefits. Red wine is rich in phenols and most worthwhile when taken as a part of the Mediterranean diet and Croatia is a country partially located in the Mediterranean. The aim of this thesis is to review the relevant research in the field of wine and health interrelation based on a survey conducted in association with wine experts of Croatia. Given the revised literature we can conclude that moderate wine intake is not only beneficial for human health, but also for positioning of Croatia, a country with a long history of wine production, on the European markets.
