Procjena unosa procesirane hrane kod male djece

Abstract

Prehrana bogata procesiranim namirnicama u ranim godinama života može imati negativan utjecaj na rast i razvoj djeteta te predstavlja rizik za pojavu pretilosti i ostalih zdravstvenih komplikacija. Ovo istraživanje imalo je za cilj procijeniti unos procesirane hrane kod djece od jedne do tri godine, provjeriti postoji li razlika u unosu procesirane hrane s obzirom na starost djeteta, kućne prihode i majčin indeks tjelesne mase. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 133 ispitanika. Istraživanje je provedeno prikupljanjem podataka putem općeg upitnika te dnevnikom prehrane. Procijenjujući unos procesirane hrane s obzirom na starost utvrđena je statistički značajna razlika u unosu mlijeka (p= 0,033) i ribe (p=0,01) u korist djece starije od 24 mjeseca. S obzirom na kućne prihode, statistički značajna razlika postoji u konzumaciji jaja (p=0,001) i mlijeka (p=0,05) u korist djece s manjim prihodima. Što se majčinog indeksa tjelesne mase tiče, statistički značajna razlika utvrđena je samo kod konzumacije ostale svježe hrane (p=0,017) u korist djece majki s normalnim indeksom tjelesne mase. Iako razlika nije bila statistički značajna ipak starija mala djeca, djeca majki s većim ITM i djeca obitelji s višim prihodima unose manje svježe, a više ultraprocesirane hrane. Edukacija roditelja, o pravilnoj prehrani kod male djece izuzetno je važna, a sve u svrhu formiranja prihvatljivih prehrambenih navika od malih nogu i održavanja njihovog zdravlja u budućnosti.

Abstract (english)

Diet rich with processed food in the early days of life can have bad impact on children's growth and development and can represent a risk of obesity and other chronic diseases. This research was aimed to estimate ntake of processed food in toddlers, to check if there is a difference in food intake due to the age of the child, home income, and maternal body mass index. The survey involved 133 respondents. The research was conducted by collecting data via a general questionnaire and a dietary records. Estimating the intake of processed food due to age has established a statistically significant difference in milk intake (p = 0.033) and fish (p = 0.01) in favor of children older than 24 months. With regard to household income, a statistically significant difference exists in egg consumption (p = 0.001) and milk (p = 0.05) in favor of children with lower incomes. As far as the maternal weight index is concerned, a statistically significant difference is only found in the consumption of other fresh foods (p = 0.017) in favor of mothers with normal body mass index. Although the difference was not statistically significant, older children, children of mothers with larger BMI and children with higher family income eat less fresh and more ultra-processed foods. Parent involvement, on proper diet in small children, is extremely important, all in the purpose of establishing acceptable dietary habits from the early childhood and maintaining their health in the future.
