Utjecaj kroničnog stresa i dijetetičkih parametara na mišićnu masu i mineralnu gustoću kosti u studentica

Abstract

Nedavna istraživanja stavljaju naglasak na kroničan stres kao potencijalni promotor osteoporoze i sarkopenije. Svakodnevna prehrana pokazala je važan doprinos održavanju koštanog i mišićnog tkiva ukoliko je u skladu s principima pravilne prehrane. U provedenom istraživanju pratila se povezanost koštanog i mišićnog tkiva s kroničnim stresom i dijetetičkim parametrima na uzorku od 123 studentice prosječne dobi 22,3 godine. Komponente sastava tijela i parametri vezani uz kronični stres su utvrđeni metodom bioelektrične impedancije, a podaci o prehrambenom unosu prikupljeni su metodom 24-h prisjećanja. Rezultati su pokazali adekvatnu prosječnu mineralnu gustoću kostiju kod ispitanica (1,042 g cm-3). Prosječan udio mišićnog tkiva je bio manji od adekvatnog (22,7%). Pozitivna korelacija utvrđena je između udjela mišićnog tkiva i mineralne gustoće kostiju (BMD) (r=0,41; p<0,05), a negativna korelacija između udjela masnog tkiva i BMD-a (r=-0,96; p<0,05). Zabilježeno je pozitivno djelovanje mišićne mase na kroničan stres. Dijetetički parametri nisu statistički značajno korelirali s udjelom mišićnog tkiva i s BMD-om. Rezultati ukazuju na poželjnost povećanja mišićnog tkiva kako bi se podržalo zdravlje kostiju i smanjili negativni učinci kroničnog stresa.

Abstract (english)

Recent studies are focused on the influence of chronic stress as the potential promotor of osteoporosis and sarcopenia. In addition, daily diet has shown an important contribution to the maintenance of bone and muscle mass if it is in accordance with the dietary guidelines. In this study, the association between bone and muscle mass, chronic stress and dietary parameters was evaluated in a sample of 123 women whose mean age was 22.3 years. The components of body composition and parameters related with chronic stress were determined by bioelectric impedance method, and the dietary parameters were collected via 24 h-recall. The results showed an adequate bone mineral density (BMD) in subjects (1.042 g cm-3). The mean value for muscle mass was lower then adequate (22.7%). There was a positive correlation between muscle mass and BMD (r=0.41; p<0.05), and a negative correlation between adipose tissue and BMD (r=-0.96; p<0.05). Positive influence of muscle mass on chronic stress was determined. Dietary parameters did not significantly correlate with muscle mass and BMD. In conclusion, the results indicate that an increase in muscle mass may contribute to bone health and lower the negative effects of chronic stress.
