Abstract

Pretilost je jedan od vodećih zdravstvenih problema u svijetu, a definira se kao stanje prekomjernog nakupljanja masnog tkiva u organizmu. Patofiziološki mehanizmi, promatranje čimbenika koji djeluju u pojedinim segmentima biokemijskih procesa povezanih sa pretilošću mogu se promatrati i kroz modele. Konceptualni i matematički modeli predstavljaju prikaz koji sažima i pojednostavljuje sustav, usredotočujući se na ključne značajke za objašnjavanje i predviđanje određenog sustava. U ovom radu analizirani su modeli i rezultati istraživanja koji su staničnim reprogramiranjem želučanog tkiva nastojali pronaći obnovljivi izvor funkcionalnih β - stanica za regulaciju glukoze u krvi kod dijabetičkih miševa, što bi u budućnosti mogao biti jedan od alternativnog oblika liječenja dijabetesa. Također je analizirana i lipidna hipoteza. Navedenim konceptualnim i matematičkim modelima prikazan je način kako bolje razumjeti problem s ciljem pravovaljanog djelovanja u prevenciji kroničnih bolesti, kao što je i pretilost.

Abstract (english)

Obesity is one of the leading health problems in the world, and is defined as a condition of excessive accumulation of adipose tissue in the body. Pathophysiological mechanisms, observation of factors acting in certain segments of biochemical processes associated with obesity can also be observed through models. Conceptual and mathematical models represent a representation that summarizes and simplifies a system, focusing on key features to explain and predict a particular system. This paper analyzes models and research results that sought to find a renewable source of functional β - cells for blood glucose regulation in diabetic mice by cell reprogramming of gastric tissue, which could be one of the alternative forms of diabetes treatment in the future. The lipid hypothesis was also analyzed. These conceptual and mathematical models show a way to better understand the problem with the aim of valid action in the prevention of chronic diseases, such as obesity.
