Abstract

Akne su kronična upalna kožna bolest koja pogađa većinom adolescente, ali i odrasle osobe. Brojni čimbenici sudjeluju u patogenezi ove bolesti, kako vanjski tako i unutarnji. Ovaj rad donosi pregled dostupne literature na temu utjecaja prehrane na razvoj akni. Mišljenje ima li prehrana ulogu u patogenezi akni mijenjalo se kroz desetljeća. Sve brojnija istraživanja posljednjih godina ukazuju na povezanost prehrane i akni. Čini se da mlijeko i mliječni proizvodi te visok glikemijski indeks i glikemijsko opterećenje hrane dovodi do razvoja akni i pogoršanja kliničke slike. Suprotno, omega-3 masne kiseline i cink kao dodaci prehrani možda dovode do poboljšanja kliničke slike. Daljnja istraživanja potrebna su kako bi se uloga prehrane u patogenezi akni dodatno razjasnila.

Abstract (english)

Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin disease which affects mostly adolescents, but adults as well. Numerous external and internal factors play a role in acne pathogenesis. This paper reviews currently available literature on the role of diet in development of acne. Opinion on whether diet plays a role in the development of acne has been changing over the years. More and more research that is done over the last couple of years point to a link between the two. It seems that milk, milk products, high glycemic index and glycemic load lead to development and exacerbation of acne lesions. On the other hand, it seems that omega-3 fatty acids and zinc improve the look of acne lesions. Further research is necessary to determine the exact role of diet in acne pathogenesis.
