Abstract

Hormoni, molekule proizvedene iz endokrinih žlijezda, imaju ulogu u različitim fiziološkim procesima u ženskom tijelu. Uključeni su u rast i razvoj, metabolizam, regulaciju unosa hrane, ravnotežu elektrolita i reprodukciju. Cilj ovog rada je primjenom načela konceptualnog modeliranja pružiti pregled složenih hormonalnih sustava u ženskom organizmu te prikazati utjecaj prehrane na iste. Hrana i njene komponente utječu na razinu i funkcije hormona u organizmu. Određeni prehrambeni obrasci ponašanja mogu potaknuti procese koji će uzrokovati različitastanja koja negativno utječu na zdravlje. Osim toga, prehrana može poslužiti i kao alat optimiranja hormonalnog balansa u svrhu liječenja ili smanjivanja simptoma određenih poremećaja. Kompleksnost utjecaja hormona na zdravlje i kvalitetu života ženske populacije pobliže se može proučiti pomoću konceptualnih modela. Korištenjem boja, oblika i strelica, konceptualni modeli pomažu u lakšem shvaćanju promatranih sustava jer ističu važne informacije, olakšava se, vrlo često se i pojednostavljuje povezivanje promatranih čimbenika u sustavu te se naglašavaju razlike u razinama hormona kroz promatrani životni vijek žene.

Abstract (english)

Hormones, molecules produced by endocrine glands, play a role in various physiological processes in the female body. They are involved in growth and development, metabolism, regulation of food intake, electrolyte balance and reproduction. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the complex hormonal systems in the female organism by applying the principles of conceptual modelling and to show the influence of nutrition on them. Food and its components affect the level and functions of hormones in the body. Certain dietary patterns of behaviour can trigger processes that will cause various conditions which can have a negative impact on health. Nutrition can also serve as a tool for optimizing hormonal balance for the purpose of treating or reducing symptoms of certain disorders. The complexity of the influence of hormones on health and quality of life of the female population is explained more in detail by using conceptual models. With the use of colours and shapes, conceptual models can make observed systems easier to understand because they highlight important information, facilitate (very often simplify) the connection of the observed factors in the system, and emphasize the differences in the hormone levels throughout the observed life span of women.
