Abstract

Meta-analiza je alat koji se primjenjuje u mnogim znanstvenim disciplinama jer omogućuje slikovitu usporedbu studija i procjenu utjecaja različitih čimbenika. Ovaj rad istražio je primjenu meta-analize u proučavanju povezanosti prehrambenih obrazaca i endometrioze, koja je česta među ženama. Cilj rada bio je usmjeren na analizu utjecaja prehrane na rizik od endometrioze koji je istražen u dvije velike meta-studije koje su ukupno istražile >390 studija. Rezultati analiza pokazali su da crveno meso povećava, a mliječni proizvodi smanjuju rizik od endometrioze. Veći unos mliječnih proizvoda, osobito onih bogatih kalcijem i vitaminom D, povezan je sa smanjenim rizikom zbog njihovih protuupalnih i antioksidativnih svojstava. S druge strane, konzumacija crvenog mesa i namirnica bogatih trans i zasićenim mastima povećava rizik zbog poticanja upale i promjene metabolizma estrogena. Preporučuje se povećati unos mliječnih proizvoda, voća i povrća te smanjiti unos crvenog mesa i namirnica bogatih trans i zasićenim mastima kako bi se smanjio rizik od endometrioze.

Abstract (english)

Meta-analysis is a tool that is used in many scientific disciplines because it enables a graphic comparison of studies and an assessment of the influence of different factors. This paper explored the application of meta-analysis to the study of the association between dietary patterns and endometriosis, which is common among women. The aim of the work was focused on the analysis of the influence of diet on the risk of endometriosis, which was investigated in two large meta-studies that investigated a total of >390 studies. The results of the analyses showed that red meat increases, and dairy products reduce, the risk of endometriosis. A higher intake of dairy products, especially those rich in calcium and vitamin D, is associated with a reduced risk due to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. On the other hand, consumption of red meat and foods rich in trans and saturated fats increases the risk due to stimulation of inflammation and changes in estrogen metabolism. It is recommended to increase the intake of dairy products, fruits and vegetables and reduce the intake of red meat and foods rich in trans and saturated fats in order to reduce the risk of endometriosis.
