Abstract

Imunosni sustav je jedan od ključnih faktora kod presađivanja organa, jer uvjetuje prihvaćanje presatka u organizmu primatelja, a određenim modifikacijama prehrane se može postići željeni učinak na imunosni sustav. U ovom su radu, prema podatcima prikupljenim iz znanstvenih studija, navedeni i objašnjeni učinci pojedinih nutrijenata na imunosni sustav tijekom presađivanja tkiva i organa u eksperimentalnih životinja, ali i prehrambeni protokoli koji se koriste kod transplantacijskih bolesnika. Pri tome se uzelo u obzir da su učinci pojedinih nutrijenata općeniti, a neki su specifični za pojedine organe. Tako određene masne kiseline mogu, u određenoj mjeri, ojačati ili inhibirati imunosni sustav, veća razina kolesterola je povezana s učestalijom vaskulopatijom transplantata, proteinsko-energetska malnutricija može ugroziti imunosni sustav, a različiti antioksidansi pomažu protiv slobodnih radikala kisika nastalih u donorskim organima tijekom čuvanja. Navedeni su i metabolički učinci najčešće korištenih imunosupresivnih pripravaka, te sinergistički učinci imunosupresiva i pojedinih nutrijenata na imunosni sustav.

Abstract (english)

The immune system is one of the key factors in transplantation because it determines if the graft is going to be rejected and certain nutritional modifications can have a specific effect on the immune system. The collected data shows the ways certain nutrients affect the immune system during transplantation in animals and the nutritional protocols used in patients undergoing transplantation. While some nutrients have an influence on the body as a whole other affect only some organs. Some fatty acids can strengthen (or even inhibit) our immune system to a certain degree, higher cholesterol levels are linked to more frequent graft vasculopathy, protein-energy malnutrition weakens the immune system and various antioxidants help fight off free radicals that form in the tissue while it is stored and waiting to be given to a patient. The metabolic effects of commonly used immunosuppressive drugs and their synergistic interactions with nutrients are also listed.
