Abstract

Lipoproteini su kompleksi lipida i jedne posebne grupe proteina, apoproteina. Lipoproteini su klasificirani na temelju dijametra, gustoće i odnosa lipida i apoproteina na: hilomikrone, lipoproteine vrlo male gustoće (VLDL), lipoproteine srednje gustoće (IDL), lipoproteine niske gustoće (LDL) i lipoproteine velike gustoće (HDL). HDL čestice sudjeluju u transportu kolesterola iz perifernih stanica do jetre i steroidnih organa, gdje se on dalje koristi za sintezu lipoproteina, žučnih kiselina, vitamina D i steroidnih hormona. Apoproteini se prvenstveno sintetiziraju u jetri i igraju vrlo važnu ulogu u metabolizmu lipoproteina. Oni sudjeluju u transportu hidrofobnih molekula lipida u plazmi, posreduju u vezivanju lipoproteina za receptore na površini staničnih membrana čime se osigurava ulaz lipoproteina u stanice ciljnih organa i tkiva organizma, također sudjeluju u aktivaciji ili inhibiciji enzima uključenih u metabolizam lipida. Propolis je tijekom stoljeća, a u posljednje vrijeme i u suvremenoj medicinskoj praksi ispitivan i korišten kao protuvirusno, protubakterijsko i protufungalno sredstvo. U našim ispitivanjima koristili smo nativni propolis u dozi od 50 mg kg-1, kojem smo istražili sastav, udio i vrstu flavonoida. Ispitan je i utjecaj propolisa na sastav lipoproteina kod Swiss albino miša koji su hranjeni sa visoko masnom dijetom uz dodatak propolisa. U usporedbi s miševima u kontrolnoj skupini ekstrakt propolisa pokazuje smanjenje sljedećih parametara kod grupe koja je hranjena visoko masnom dijetom: tjelesne težina, serumskih i jetrenih triglicerida, kolesterola.

Abstract (english)

Lipoproteins consist of lipids and proteins called apoproteins. Lipoproteins are classifield according to size, density, and lipid and apoprotein composition: chylomicrons (CHY), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), intermediate-density lipoproteins (IDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and high-density lipoproteins (HDL). HDL-mediated efflux of cholesterol from nonhepatic cells and its subsequent delivery to the liver and steroidogenic organs, in which it is used for the synthesis of lipoproteins, bile acids, vitamin D, and steroid hormones. Apoproteins are synthesized in the liver. Apoproteins play important roles in lipoprotein metabolism, such as transport of these hydrophobic molecules in plasma aqueous medium, binding to specific receptors in cell surface to correctly direct lipids to target organs and body tissues, and activation or inhibition of enzymes involved in lipid metabolism. Propolis has been used in folk medicine since ancient times. Nowadays, its usage has reached the stage of scientific medicine. Propolis is considered to have antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties. In our study we determined flavonoid composition of ethanolic extract of propolis. We used dose of native propolis 50 mg kg-1 bw. Is also determined by the impact effect on propolis composition of lipoproteins in the Swiss albino mouse. We examined the impact of propolis on the composition of lipoproteins in Swiss albino mouse fed with high-fat diet supplemented with propolis. Compared with mice in the control group, propolis extract showed reduction in following parameters in the group which was fed high-fat diet: body weight, serum and liver triglycerides, cholesterol.
