Abstract

U popisnoj 2001. godini utvrđeno je da Hrvatska ima 15,62% starijeg stanovništva, što znači da je svaki šesti stanovnik stariji od 65 godina. Prehrana je jedan od najvažnijih čimbenika koji je odgovoran za zdravo aktivno starenje i očuvanje funkcionalne sposobnosti u starosti. Stoga cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi kakvoću prehrane osoba starijih od 60 godina. Istraživanjem je obuhvaćeno 339 ispitanika (81,1% žena, 18,9% muškaraca) prosječne dobi 78 godina s područja grada Zagreba. Za procjenu kakvoće prehrane i drugih životnih navika korišten je opći upitnik i 24-satno prisjećanje. Utvrđen je prevelik unos masti, nedovoljan unos energije, dijetalnih vlakana, tekućine, neadekvatan unos mineralnih tvari i vitamina, nedostatak tjelesne aktivnosti, te loše životne navike u većine ispitanika. Preporuča se dodatna edukacija starijih osoba o važnosti pravilne prehrane, tjelesne aktivnosti te ostalih životnih navika u cilju prevencije, ali i poboljšanja postojećeg zdravstvenog stanja.

Abstract (english)

During the census that was carried out in 2001, it was stated that Croatia has 15,62% of older citizens, which means that every sixth citizen is older than 65. Nourishment is one of the most important factors responsible for healthy active aging and for preserving functional ability in one's old age. Therefore the purpose of this research was to determine the quality of nourishment for people older than 60. The research included 339 examinees from the Zagreb city area (81,1% women, 18,9% men) average aged 78. To evaluate the quality of nourishment and other lifestyle habits it Common Questionnaire and 24-hour recalls was used. It has been stated that the input of lipids is too high, the input of energy, dietetic fibre, liquids is insufficient, the input of minerals and vitamins is inadequate, there is a lack of physical activity and bad lifestyle habits (smoking, alcohol) among the majority of examinees. The recommendation is that older persons should be advised on the matter. They should receive additional education on the importance of balanced nourishment, physical activity and other personal habits so as to prevention of diseases, but also to improve present health condition.
