Abstract

Cilj ovog rada bio je proučavanje utjecaja iona mangana na kinetiku alkoholne fermentacije s kvascem Kluyveromyces marxianus. Kultivacije su provođene u semiaerobnim (tresilica) i aerobnim (fermentor) uvjetima sa i bez dodatka mangan sulfata u sirutku i laktoznu podlogu. Utvrđeno je da dodatak mangan sulfata (10 – 150 mg/L) u sirutku ili laktoznu podlogu ima inhibicijski učinak na rast kvaščeve biomase dok na proizvodnju etanola nema značajan učinak. Također je utvrđeno da optimalna koncentracija mangan sulfata za rast biomase i proizvodnju etanola s kvacem Kluyveromyces marxianus u semiaerobnim i aerobnim uvjetima iznosi 5 mg/L. Međutim prilikom dodatka malih koncentracija mangan sulfata ( 1 i 2 mg/L) u laktoznu podlogu sa smanjenom količinom kvaščevog ekstrakta i bactopeptona, u semiaerobnim uvjetima dolazi je do inhibicije proizvodnje etanola dok na rast biomase te koncentracije mangan sulfata nemaju utjecaja.

Abstract (english)

The goal of this paper was to study the influence of manganese ions on kinetics of ethanolic fermentation with yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus. The cultivations were performed in semiaerobic (shaker) and aerobic (fermentor) conditions, with and without addition of manganese sulphate in whey and lactose medium. The addition of manganese sulphate (10 – 150 mg/L) in whey and lactose medium has an inhibitory effect on production of yeast biomass while it has no significant effect on ethanol production. Optimal concentration of manganese sulphate for biomass and ethanol production with yeast Kluyveromyces marxianus is 5 mg/L. However, small concentrations of manganese sulphate (1 and 2 mg/L) in lactose medium with a lower concentration of bactopepton and yeast extract has inhibitory effect on ethanol production however, such small concentrations have no significant effect on biomass production.
